I like to call them "Connected Explorers." I've found in my research and professional experience that "Connected Explorers" tend to embody four phrases. They regularly tell themselves:'I believe in and like myself'The securely attached tend to have a strong sense of self, and higher self-esteem, than those who are insecurely attached. They're more likely to have consistently positive feelings about themselves, their abilities, and their perception of acceptance by others. Connected Explorers understand where they end and others begin, and in the case of more intimate or romantic relationships, where the "we" begins, without becoming subsumed.

If you’re not having sex like porn stars, you’re not having good sex. One of the most pernicious myths is that sexual desire is “an electric spark of wanting” that happens naturally and instantaneously. There’s no such thing as normal when it comes to sex, and there’s more than one way of experiencing sexual desire. Even though I’m reading and writing and thinking and talking about sex all the time, I end up with no interest in actually having sex. When you talk to people who have great sex lives, they don’t talk about desire.

I would waste time and energy fantasizing about relationships with men who I inexplicably found flawless, but in reality were emotionally or physically unavailable. I've spent 10 years interviewing experts on longing, as well as people who've experienced limerence, for my podcast The Longing Lab, TEDx talk, and forthcoming book, "When Longing Becomes Your Lover." The emotional reward was the happy hormone dopamine I'd feel from imagining a relationship together or anticipating a response. Writing it down helped me believe it — and recognize my limerent feelings toward unavailable men as a dead end. I found his love and availability very attractive — something I never would have seen in my 20s and 30s.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has been throwing harder punches at GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, days before her make-or-break New Hampshire primary on Tuesday. The former U.N. ambassador on Sunday took shots at Trump's mental acuity, his cozy relations with foreign dictators and his position as an establishment figure. Haley took aim at Trump's mental fitness after footage from one of his rallies showed him attributing the Jan. 6 insurrection to Haley, repeating her name four times, apparently mistaking her for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Dedicating her talking points to Trump attacks is a marked shift from Haley, who prior to the Iowa caucuses had primarily gone after Florida Gov. "If you want to talk about Trump, if you really want to talk about Trump, why don't you go ask him if he's gonna get on a debate stage?"

But for Dr. Nicholas Westers, a clinical psychologist at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, simply talking about mental health isn’t always a good thing. But she has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, Nelson told CNN, and has had her share of mental health struggles. “Mental health is part of your physical health, and I think the internet, social media, has definitely played a part in that (association),” she said. Acknowledging what they’re experiencing may even help people actually address their mental health and seek the help they need. Making a quip like “I’m going to kill myself” when feeling down or “I’m so OCD” when you just like organization can also create stigmatization around mental health, Westers said.

A professional actor since his teens, Perry had appeared in more than a dozen sitcoms before landing “Friends” in 1994. Mostly it advertised Perry and his anxious, reckless charm. Even among the irrepressible talents of his co-stars, Perry stood out, for a rubbery, heedless way with physical comedy and a split-second timing that most stopwatches would envy. He had both an absolute commitment to what a line required and a way of gently ironizing that line. Perry was in on those same jokes.

They're pouring more money into Hollywood-style entertainment but want streamers to share more data. An industry effort is underway to standardize measurement of brand films. Brands are joining the chorus of content producers and creators demanding more audience data from Hollywood entertainment giants. Without transparency from the streamers, brands and their agencies rely on other measurements, some quantitative, some qualitative — typically a mix of things like critical reviews, social chatter, earned media, and sentiment. Most streamers don't show viewership data, so "you never really know how many people saw it," said Marc Gilbar, who leads Imagine's brands division.

As studios cut spending and strikes shut down production, Hollywood can take some solace — brands are coming to the rescue. Brand Storytelling is an organization that's held a festival for brand content alongside the Sundance Film Festival for the past seven years. "Film directors need the work," said Marcus Peterzell, who left ad giant Omnicom to found Passion Point Collective, a brand film studio, in 2019. He's since made some 36 film projects for brands.

As more athletic girls slammed volleyballs across the net, she worried about tripping or being hit by a ball. In order to avoid playing, she often sat on the sidelines and acted as the announcer. For years after, she told herself she was simply too clumsy for ball games. But a year ago, Ms. Chavez, now 26, began playing basketball with a friend and discovered she’s pretty good at shooting and dribbling. “Being afraid, being avoidant, did me more harm than good,” said Ms. Chavez, who said she still is so clumsy that she has the occasional accident.

It's important to understand your money story — the beliefs you have about how you get and spend money. "Emotions can cause and contribute to how you spend money, and vice versa, how we spend can cause and contribute to our emotional state being affected. Financial literacy isn't enough to solve many problems »Audit your emotions — and consider a journalTo get in touch with your emotions around money, keep track of them, suggests Wamala. "Ignoring your emotions keeps you in the dark when it comes to how and why you spend money," she says. What Your Therapist Doesn’t Tell You A dozen counselors on what it’s really like to sit in the other armchair. “ ‘I need to pee so bad.’ Clients don’t realize that we have five minutes between sessions and sometimes making it to the bathroom is not possible.” — Jessa White, L.M.H.C.A. You can’t do psychotherapy if a person doesn’t feel safe — there’s no way that’s going to happen. But it’s frustrating too, because as a therapist, you feel you can’t really offer what you signed up for.” — Gabriela Sehinkman, Ph.D., L.I.S.W.-S. To me, therapy is very much like dating, except, you know, obviously you don’t really want to date the person.” — Thien Pham, L.M.F.T.
It's rare to have a conversation about dating lately without someone mentioning attachment theory. Attachment theory defines four different attachment styles which offer insight into how and why we form bonds. And while no attachment style is better than another — "I don't think people with an insecure attachment style should get a bad rep," Amir Levine, the co-author of "Attached" told CNBC Make It last year — it would be reasonable to want your children to lean toward a secure attachment style. "Adults who have secure attachment styles generally can depend on their parents," Jo says. Here's how to raise a child with a secure attachment style.

Sometimes the other person won’t like what you’re saying and that’s OK; it’s just part of being in a relationship. My friends, and sometimes friends of friends, ask me for advice on how to say hard things and how to initiate painful conversations. They tell me, “You’re really good at this.” And for other people, I am. Secretive and resentful, I stopped talking to my husband about what was going on with me beyond the bare minimum. There were plenty of other things to talk about — our teenagers, his job, the news — but I had stopped sharing anything about myself.
"We call that, in our research, 'money scripts.'" Money scripts, from avoidance to vigilanceIn Klontz's research, he's found that there are generally four different money scripts: "money avoidance," "money worship," "money status" and " "money vigilance." On the other end of the spectrum, money worshippers believe wealth is the key to solving all their problems and finding happiness. Money worshippers tend to spend too much, he added, overestimating the sense of satisfaction and meaning they'll get from buying things. Money status seekers, Klontz said, often conflate their net worth with their self worth.
